Why startup pay varies

Startup pay depends on company stage, available budget, sector, location, role difficulty and how urgently the company needs the hire.

A technical, commercial or leadership role may be paid very differently from an entry-level operations or support role. Early-stage companies may also have less salary flexibility than later-stage businesses.
