Spinwell Global was founded in 2009 by a team of recruiters who believed recruitment had lost its human touch. With a combined experience of over 72 years in the industry, the founders saw an opportunity to build something better — a recruitment business that put people first, operated with complete honesty, and stayed involved long after placement.

Today, Spinwell Global is one of the UK’s most trusted recruitment businesses — 108,000 candidates, a 97% retention rate after placement, and government-approved frameworks across the public sector. That foundation is what Spinwell Startups is built on.

The Problem We Kept Hearing

The conversation that changed everything

For years, the Spinwell Global team kept having the same conversation with funded startup founders. They needed to hire. They did not trust agencies. They had been burned by percentage fees, slow processes, and consultants who disappeared after placement.

The existing recruitment model was not built for startups — and no amount of adapting it was going to fix that. The answer was not to tweak what already existed. The answer was to build something new, from scratch, designed entirely around how startups actually work.

One of our biggest drivers for our positive feedback was our decision to make a pledge to become a Living Wage Employer. This means we have promised to always pay above and beyond the government’s minimum wage and pay our staff the real cost of living salary. This enables our team to not have to worry about any surprise costs they may face out of work, and in turn, an employee that has one less thing to worry about is a more mentally healthy employee and one that can have a greater impact on our business in helping source jobs for others.
At Spinwell, we are a close-knit team. Geographically, we may be separated, but there is plenty of communication and support. Being set up remotely allows us to work from any location, giving us the opportunity to employ people from varied backgrounds, all of whom will be able to offer a different perspective and relatability. Another benefit of having a remote setup is that we are able to positively impact the environment. So much so, we are recognised as being a climate positive business.
